Summer Glitter
If you're my friend, you know me as Summer Glitter. If you haven't met me yet, we will most likely be friends once we have a conversation + connect on an individual human level!
I live in Glenwood Springs Colorado + I couldn't be happier about where I live - my husband found us the perfect house, which we are making into our perfect home over time!
I get out on the sloped to snowboard as much as I can. I'm a pretty good skier too, but let's face it - snowboarding is WAY more fun on a powder day!!!
My favorite bands are STS9 + Ween + I listen to all kinds of music (except for screamo and most country). I do appreciate music in multiple genres + I have very eclectic playlists on Spotify! I go enjoy live musuc as often as possible + I love our home venue of Belly Up Aspen + outdoor venues the most :)
I always listen to music when I create my art + synesthesia is a HUGE part of my process - the inspiration that I get from the sounds that I hear - thanks tomy art teacher in high school, Kim Landers, teaching me about synesthesia in AP art project as it very much resonated with me!
Teamwork really does make the dream work!
I believe in peace, love, happiness, karma, + Ullr (the God of snow)! I most certainly believe that everything happens for a reason. I believe that the universe has power +that power lies within all of us.
My art is a visual expression of my love + I believe it's important to decorate your space with art that lifts you up for many reasonsā¦.
Art tells a story + starts a conversation + that helps to get a party started - if it wasn't already!
When times are tough, looking at a piece of art can make you smile - even during the rough times!
If art is love and love lifts us up to a place where we belong, then art makes us feel like we are part of a community - or really a loving family in this big crazy world that we live in.
Your vibe attracts your tribeā¦the definition of a friend from what I saw on a decoration at my friend Jamanās celebration of life is number one: knows you, but likes you anyway + number two family you choose.
I do abstract art because I'm a weirdo and it feels comfortable to me⦠in my opinion, all of my friends are weirdos + I love it! If everybody was the same, life would be so boring!
I appreciate art in all forms - whether that be cooking or energy work or dancing or decorating or the way you arrange your knickknacks on your dresser or the way the snow covers the trees or the way the sun rises over the mountains or the board game or the video game or the book or really anything you can think of can be art!
When I was in high school, one of my nicknames was āphoto chickā - I actually didn't even remember this until I stumbled upon my high school artist statement recently when my mum sent me a link to photos to share at my 20 year high school reunion.
I will leave you with this last thought that resonatesā¦a quote from my high school artist statement: ā...art is my safe zone. Nothing can bother me when Iām here; itās just me and my art.ā
